How to Enable Dark Mode on Google Chrome

On your Chromebook, you get dark mode by default. But when you enable dark mode on your Chromebook, you will not get a dark theme on other applications. It only applies the dark theme to the setting and user interface. If you want to enable dark mode on the Google Chrome browser, you can follow the guide till the end.

By default, Chrome Browser officially doesn’t support an option to enable or disable the dark mode. But there are various tricks to turn on the dark mode on Google Chrome Browser. Here, you’ll find a simple trick to enable dark mode on Chrome Browser.

How to Enable Dark Mode on Google Chrome

Using this trick, not only the interface of the browser will turn dark but also the website you visit will run on dark mode. To do so, you need to install a theme and an extension to the Google Chrome Browser.

So, here are the steps to enable dark mode on Google Chrome.

Step 1: Visit chrome.google.com to open Chrome Web Store. Here search for the “Dark Reader” extension and add it to Chrome.

Note:- Dark Reader is an extension that only darkens the content of a web page. Not the interface of Google Chrome.

Step 2: To enable complete dark mode on the Google Chrome user interface. You have to install the Just Black theme. Instead of the Just Black theme, you can also turn on the dark mode option on your Chromebook. Google created the Just Black theme for the Chrome browser. Now, you are all set to enjoy Dark mode on Chrome.

How to Reset to Default

If you don’t like the dark theme and want to remove dark mode from Google Chrome Browser, then follow the following steps:

Step 1: Remove the Just Black theme. To remove the Just Black theme, click on the three-dot present on the top right-hand side corner, then click on “Settings.”

Now look for the “Appearance” section and click on the “Reset to default” option or you can open chrome://settings and scroll down to Theme and click on “Reset to default.”
